The Silver Springs Airport is ideally located one mile west of Silver Springs, Nevada,
at the intersection of U. S. Highways 50 and Alternate 95. Linked to interstate highway
80 just 15 miles to the north, it is approximately 1000 feet southerly of and parallel
to U. S. 50. Built as a military airstrip in 1941, the gravel runway length is 7200 feet long and 150 feet wide. The mean elevation is 4230 feet above sea level. With the prevailing wind runway headings of 5-23, it is just outside the weather effects of the eastern Sierra and rarely closed due to weather conditions. The Silver Springs Airport is a county owned facility leased to the Silver Springs Airport, LLC. It is on the NIPIAS system and is implementing a $1.6 million FAA grant to pave a 6,000’ by 75’ runway over the existing base. By 2002 it will be a 24 hour, fully operational airport capable of accepting 737’s . The airport master plan calls for full pavement of the 7000’ runway by 2005 There is sufficient land adjacent for runway expansion of an additional 1000 feet. The Silver Springs Airport is located on 350 acres of Industrial zoned public land.
There is approximately 600 acres of private land adjacent to the airport available
for industrial and commercial development.

Fallon Navy Air Base Vital to the development of the airport is an infrastructure support system designed to meet the demands of tomorrow, as well as today. The Silver Springs Airport, LLC has been working closely with local, state and federal government and the community to bring together a well-planned, highly efficient, state of the art infrastructure that will compliment the area’s quality of life and business atmosphere. A well-planned roadway network is integrated into the existing network in order accommodate the needs of our users. In addition to excellent highway access from U.S. #50 and State Highway #95, State Highway 567 connecting U.S Highway #50 with Tahoe Pacific Industrial Park and U. S. Highway #80 is planned for the near future. The region is served with an electrical substation that is planned for upgrade, adding two electrical substations with a complete new power loop system providing dual feed capabilities as the demand arises. Telephone service provided by Nevada Bell. State-of-the-art telecommunications services are available from Nevada Bell upon request. The water table in the area is supplied by a huge aquifer below the ground and is fed by adjacent Lahontan Reservoir and Carson River. A privately owned water company serving most of the community will soon be integrated into the General Improvement District that has just completed a state of the art sewer treatment facility. The Silver Springs Airport is within the General Improvement District and will be on line by 2002 An active Southern Pacific railroad spur is located one mile to the east. Public commuter bus service to Carson, Fallon, Fernley and Reno is provided by Nevada Pride Stated simply, the regional infrastructure system to the Silver Springs Airport will be capable of servicing the requirements of virtually any size aviation and industrial user.
